The method is summarized in a comment in this Apple Community discussion thread This method requires 1) a functioning second Mac for running DiskMakerX and 2) a USB drive with at least 12 GB available. One way is to use DiskMakerX to create a bootable USB drive with a downloaded install image of the OSX loaded on it. I found two ways to go about doing this, but I have questions.
I’m trying to create a bootable USB flash drive to re-install Mac OSX High Sierra on my late 2013 27” inch iMac (3.2GHz/8GB RAM/ 3TB HDD) running 10.13.6 High Sierra.
